We’re so happy and proud to announce the release of our sixth title, Joseph Carrabis‘ The Shaman is now available on Kindle, print, and is available in your local brick&mortars.
The Shaman is a metaphysical memoir, the diary of Gio Fortuna (“John Chance” in English), who embarks on a lifelong search to discover his own purpose and meaning in life, to answer “Why am I here?”
Gio, misdiagnosed as mentally deficient while a babe still in diapers, is about to be institutionalized by his parents. His grandparents, known and respected around the world as Guardians and Keepers of The Practice, a collection of mystical traditions developed, secreted away, and now known only to a few since humans first gathered and learned of Fire, rescue him and, not believing what the doctors have said, begin training him in their ways.
“The Shaman is Campbell’s The Hero’s Journey writ large in the modern world.”
“The story is a primer for spirit work, thank you.”
“Although, as usual in a Carrabis story, some parts of this novel are uncomfortable, I enjoyed it very much. Gio needed to experience those things to learn and grow.”
“It’s uplifting to read about a character having experiences similar to some of mine. I don’t have his power or training, but the sensitivity and awareness are familiar. This will be another healing book and perhaps a training manual for empaths and light workers.”
“If you want to get high without drugs, read Carrabis’ book.”
“Richly emotive, mythical, and thought-provoking, The Shaman follows the life story of Gio Fortuna, a boy rejected by his parents and unsure of his place in a world full of violence and despair. Trying to make better sense of the mystic knowledge gifted to him by his grandfather, Gio embarks on a Campbellian journey of personal and spiritual transformation, traveling to different parts of the globe, encountering many diverse teachers, and learning many truths–both metaphysical and material–along the way. Written with Carrabis’ usual dexterity and brilliance, The Shaman is more than just the narrative of Gio’s life: it also serves as an invitation for the reader’s own personal growth and a guide for those who wish to explore the many layers of human experience and the ultimate nature of the universe.” – Clarabelle Miray Fields, Award Winning Poet, Editor, and Publisher
